  • Guest:We have just held our daughter's wedding at Callow Hall. The location and accommodation are lovely and the shared rooms are varied, with plenty of choice for our guests to enjoy, some with cosy log fires - just perfect for a winter wedding. The staff without exception were friendly and helpful, definitely happy to go the extra mile. Special mention must go to the Wedding and Event Manager Dana, whose organisational and planning skills were obvious and her 'nothing too much trouble' approach really helped make the day so special. Thank you Dana and all the team at Callow.
  • Guest:Wonderful experience. Sunday lunch was excellent and very filling! Room was wonderful, as was the charcuterie board in the evening and breakfast. Really admire the ethical and environmental emphasis here.
  • Guest:We had a nice stay, the building and setting is lovely. It just lacked attention to detail to make this really worth the money it is. For clarity: - little things in the room like only one glass for water, conditioner not filled up in the shower - the tv turned itself on every 5 minutes and the cold tap was sending out hot water But the restaurant is what really lets this place down. Firstly we were offered 6.45 or 8.30 bookings, so took 6.45. When we went to the restaurant at 6.45 we were told our booking was actually 7.45. We had our starters before we had our drinks, it took 25 minutes for them to come from us sitting down. I had ribeye steak and requested medium rare- it came and was rare - very rare. Didn’t want to send it back as my wife would then have had to eat her food alone or wait for me and eat it cold. The ‘February’ menu had two different versions, meaning it had different desserts on it from when we first looked, to when we were given menus again after dessert. We had to ask for dessert menus as no one offered us them. This is a costly restaurant with a high service charge - and frankly it’s not at the point of warranting those prices yet. Walking into breakfast we were told to find our own table. There were 7/8 empty, but only two clean. There was dirty plates and cups and glasses everywhere. The room was comfortable and the setting is lovely, but it’s frustrating that the basics just weren’t nailed at all. We get limited time to go away (due to needing childcare) and it felt for the money a disappointing weekend we’ll not see the benefit of the spend of now.
  • Guest:There’s something special here. There are lots of hotels in manor houses, and many are more expensive (and, to be fair, cheaper). But what they’ve done here is to add small touch after small touch that adds up to more than the sum of its parts. The food is wonderful, but the attention to detail on the service is quite special. The staff (of which there are - unusually- plenty) are wonderful - both professional and proud of going the extra mile. They all feel like individuals who care and to whom warmth comes entirely naturally. The situation is beautiful, the house stunning, there are log fires, the beds are SUMPTUOUS, and many other details best experienced for oneself. I thought this on my first visit. This is my second, and the experience is identical. Very well done.
