Magique… Magnifique.. Maurice a réalisé un véritable exploit en créant ce lieu d’accueil finement décoré. Et un accueil tout aussi chaleureux que l’ambiance qui ce dégage de ce lieu. ??Bravo l’Artiste?? BéA&JP
Dans une rue chargée d'histoire, notre h?te nous accueille dans une magnifique demeure décorée avec un go?t très s?r. Petit salon cocooning qui fait oublier les frimas de l'hiver (il fait très froid à Chinon en ce moment !), donnant sur une salle à manger ou vous sera servi un petit déjeuner (compris dans la chambre !) pantagruélique. Les chambres, sont d'un confort et d'un espace irréprochable avec une salle de bain gigantesque. Mais tout cela n'est rien sans un h?te merveilleux, qui est aux petits soins pour ses clients et ne sait comment leur faire plaisir. Merci Monsieur pour ces deux jours exceptionnels. Une superbe maison d'h?te que nous recommandons vivement à toute personne de passage à Chinon. Chez Maurice nous sommes accueillis par une personne chaleureuse et pleine de vie qui gère cette maison depuis 2015. La décoration, les chambres et le lieu sont recherchés et raffinés, nous rentrons dans l'univers de Maurice avec des grands yeux pleins de curiosité et en ressortant avec des images colorées et des souvenirs heureux. Le petit déjeuner proposé sur place est préparé par Maurice et est des plus agréable et gourmands ! Nous ne pouvons que recommander cette maison en plein c?ur de Chinon !
Wonderful small boutique airbnb in meticuloisly renovated property within the old central part of Chinon. Maurice is the perfect host and always helpful. Amazing breakfast. Stayed on second ( top) floor room, and did not find stairs difficult.
We have now stayed here on 5 separate occasions in 4 different rooms. Always superb and it keeps getting better. The medieval house is beautifully restored in a lovely street, just up from the riverside, just below the chateau and a few minutes walk from some superb restaurants. The rooms are huge, comfortable, full of character and stuffed full with quirky little objects and pictures. The bathrooms are also huge and characterful but with modern fittings. The breakfasts, served in the lovely dining room are a sumptuous banquet. Everything you could possibly want. Scrambled egg, sausages, grilled tomatoes, smoked salmon, hams, cheeses, pancakes, quiche, cereals, a beautiful array of different breads and brioche, home made jams, home made cakes and croissants, even home made yogurt. And then of course, there is Maurice. Charming, amusing, helpful, informative, Maurice is the perfect host who goes the extra mile to make you feel like a welcome and treasured guest. Apart from help with cleaning the rooms, he appears to run the place single handedly, even down to making the cakes, the croissants and the yogurts himself. He also provides you with a parking permit, allowing for free parking by the riverside, just a minutes walk away. Having stayed in many different places in France, this is the best and better than any five star hotels, with the best breakfasts in France as well! We may have stayed here 5 times, but we'll definitely be back for a sixth!
I can’t say enough positives about this property! We stayed in the La Chambre de Marie Janelle. The room had everything you could need: robes, slippers, hairdryer, tea kettle, great AC, soap, even wash clothes. Our room was beautiful and very quiet. Getting to the property can be challenging but well worth the effort. I will say this property is NOT for those with any kind of mobility issues. There is no elevator and our room was on third floor. Our host greeted us with a pleasant smile and carried our suitcases to our room. He explained everything we needed to know and even provided information on where to visit while in Chinon. The area of this property is very walkable and has several restaurants nearby.
A Fabulous Chinon Stay
We’ve just spent a week at H?tel Au Relais Saint Maurice, and it was a real highlight of our holiday. The hotel is a beautiful old house, full of character and history stretching back hundreds of years. Maurice, the owner, is absolutely dedicated to the place and to his guests – nothing is too much trouble, and his care shows in every detail. Breakfast was a real treat each morning, with homemade food and an incredible range of choices, all served in the peaceful courtyard or the amazing dining room. Everything is spotlessly clean, and the whole atmosphere is warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. During a week when temperatures reached the high thirties, the air conditioning in the rooms was a blessing. It’s a hotel run with real heart and pride, and we couldn’t have asked for a better base for our time in Chinon. Highly recommended.
